The state of Connecticut announced Tuesday that it is temporarily suspending operations at four hospitals as it recovers from a devastating flu pandemic.

Gov.

Dannel Malloy, who is also the health secretary, said the state will close all its dental offices for a few days in the hope of reducing costs.

He said the move will allow the state to focus on other priorities, including paying bills.

Officials have said the flu season in the U.S. is the worst since the pandemic of 1918.
